Paestum

One of the main attractions is undoubtedly Paestum. Majestic Greek temples dominate the landscape. Built between 400 – 500 BC, they are among the best-preserved worldwide. Beside the archaeological site, there is a fascinating museum. Paestum also offers a beautiful beach promenade with bars and restaurants – a great alternative to the lively promenade of Agropoli.

Agropoli

With about 22,000 inhabitants, Agropoli is the heart of Cilento. Beyond great shopping, it offers a historic old town entered through a 16th-century gate. On the highest point sits the Aragonese Castle. The "Trentova" bay is a popular swimming spot at Monte Tresino, which separates Agropoli from Castellabate and offers many hiking trails leading to the abandoned village of San Giovanni.

Agropoli

Trentinara

Visible from our terrace, Trentinara winds like a snake along a mountain ridge. This charming village offers sandstone farmhouses, narrow alleys, and the legendary "preta 'ncatenata" walk dedicated to a local love story. Known for spectacular panoramas, cozy cafes, and the "volo dell'angelo" – a zipline flight at 120 km/h over the abyss.

Trentinara

Giungano

A mountain village where time seems to have stopped. Giungano features noble palaces from the 16th century and beautiful hiking trails with waterfalls and Roman remains. From the lower part of the village, the view stretches across the hills to the sea, where you can see the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri.

Giungano

Castellabate

Often called the most beautiful village in Cilento and famous for the movie "Welcome to the South". In summer it's a beach paradise; at Christmas, a winter wonderland. Explore the narrow flower-filled streets, the castle, and the Basilica. Visit Santa Maria with its ancient port and "water castle" or hike to the private island of Licosa (approx. 90 mins).

Castellabate

Velia

After Paestum, Velia is the most important archaeological site in Cilento. Discover the ruins of the ancient city of philosophers by the sea, founded in 540 BC. The site belongs to the town of Ascea.

Velia

Roscigno

A time capsule in the Cilento mountains. The last inhabitants left in 1908 due to landslides. Today it is an open-air museum documenting rural life from 100 years ago. You can still see remains of kitchens and personal items left behind in the ruins.

Padula

A day trip to Padula is a cultural must. The main attraction is the giant Charterhouse of San Lorenzo (14th century). Also visit the old town with its small museums and the 5th-century "San Giovanni in Fonte" baptistery. Combine it with the Pertosa caves nearby.

Padula

Oasi Alento

A well-maintained nature park south of Agropoli. A popular destination for hiking, picnics, and family fun. Features horses, alpacas, and peacocks. Activities include canoeing, riding, archery, and bike rentals. Guided bus tours are also available.

Oasi Alento

Rocca Cilento

A typical medieval Cilentan village. Its majestic castle sits on the highest point and is visible from miles away. Recently restored, it now serves as an event location. Walking through its cobblestone streets feels like traveling back in time.

Rocca Cilento

Salerno

A vibrant coastal city and the regional capital. Beyond shopping, it offers a picturesque old town and a mighty cathedral. Walk along the promenade and city park, or visit the Arechi Castle ruins above the city. In winter, the city is famous for its unique "Luci d'Artista" light festival.

Pompeii

Easily reachable by train, Pompeii covers about 60 hectares at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. Buried in 79 AD by the volcanic eruption, the city was perfectly preserved, documenting ancient Roman life. Also very interesting is the nearby site of Herculaneum.

Surroundings of Apartment Rigoletto

The apartment is located in the hilly landscape 5 km outside Agropoli and nearly 5 km from Paestum. The small village center (San Giuseppe di Giungano) is 500m away, where you will find supermarkets, small shops, various restaurants, and a public playground. The nearest beach is 4 km away, the train station 5 km, and the nearest gas station 2 km.
